Our History

For over 30 years, G. H. Financials has provided order-routing, clearing and settlement services to the world’s derivatives markets.

Founded by Gedon Hertshten, G. H. Financials strives to be the global clearer of choice for professionals in the derivatives markets. Gedon has extensive experience of the derivatives industry from a career that spans over forty-five years.

Beginning his career as a local floor-trader at the Chicago Board of Trade in 1978, Gedon has been involved in the derivatives industry with business activities covering a wide range of international exchanges.

FROM LOCAL BEGINNINGS TO GLOBAL REACH

The company was incorporated in 1993 as a clearing company for local floor traders on the London International Financial Futures Exchange (LIFFE). Subsequently, in order to expand G. H. Financials global reach, the company is now a clearing member of the majority of the world’s international derivatives exchanges.

To meet the growth of G. H. Financials international clients, three subsidiary businesses were formed, G. H. Financials, LLC in the United States in 2011, G. H. Financials (Hong Kong) Limited in 2012 and GHF Info Services Private Limited in 2023.

Today, G. H. Financials is one of the leading independent clearing firms for exchange-traded derivatives in the world.

Gedon Hertshten founds G. H. Financials with its first office in Cannon Street, London. Providing a clearing service for local floor traders on the London International Financial Futures Exchange (LIFFE).

G. H. Financials subsequently becomes a clearing member of LIFFE to provide a more comprehensive service to its clients.

In 1998, G. H. Financials became a clearing member of Eurex, the first of many international exchanges and started to offer comprehensive international clearing services.

In 2011, G. H. Financials opened its first overseas office in Chicago, providing local representation in the burgeoning US futures markets, coinciding with becoming a clearing member of CME Group.

In 2012, G. H. Financials opened its Hong Kong office, recognising the growing importance of the Asian markets. Subsequently, the Hong Kong office has helped lead the development of the Asian futures markets.

In 2014, G. H. Financials was awarded the title of "Non-Bank Futures Commission Merchant of the Year" by Futures and Options World (FOW), recognising GHF's continued growth, innovation and excellent customer service.

In 2015, G. H. Financials was awarded, for the second year in a row, the title of "Non-Bank Futures Commission Merchant of the Year", recognising the continued development of G. H. Financials in the world's futures markets.

In 2017, Gedon Hertshten became a member of the Board of Directors of CME Group, the world's largest derivatives exchange.

In 2019, G. H. Financials was awarded the title of "Non-Bank Broker of the Year 2019 Award" in the FOW and Global Investor Asia Capital Markets Awards. Reflecting the hard work G. H. Financials had delivered in building up its Asian market representation.

In 2020, G. H. Financials was found to be the most highly rated Non-Bank FCM for customer satisfaction by Acuiti in their GCM Review - the largest study of General Clearing Members in the global listed derivatives markets.

In 2022, Gedon Hertshten became a member of the Board of the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.

In 2023, G. H. Financials continued to support the growth of the world's markets by opening an office in Kolkata, India to support this developing market.

Founder - Gedon Hertshten

Gedon founded G. H. Financials Limited in the City of London in 1993 and he is the majority shareholder of the company which, in turn, wholly owns three subsidiaries located in Chicago, Hong Kong and Kolkata. An independent clearing operation, G. H. Financials has grown to become one of the leading clearers in the industry.

Gedon began his career as a trader at the Chicago Board of Trade in 1978 and has been involved in the derivatives industry ever since. Following his successful trading career on various exchanges, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish new ventures related to the derivatives industry. As a true trader at heart, he enjoys the pursuit of related, as well as unrelated, businesses in the ever-changing financial markets.

He was a member of the LIFFE Board of Directors from May 1997 until December 2005 and sat on many key committees. His entrepreneurship and vision has led him to steer G. H. Financials to become a leading provider of clearing and settlement services globally.
